Despite losing 32-35, the Lady Broncos showcased their best performance of the season, especially on the defensive end. The game was a physical battle, with two Lady Broncos fouling out and several others coming dangerously close to following suit. Heritage capitalized on their free throw opportunities, getting to the line 17 times compared to just 3 for the Lady Broncos. However, the team’s determination and tenacity shone through, making it one of their most competitive games of the year.
Nicole Jiminez earned Player of the Game honors after leading the team with 14 points, 2 steals, and 2 rebounds. Her scoring and defensive efforts were key in keeping the game close. Lainey Wells also contributed significantly, grabbing 8 rebounds and adding 4 points along with 1 steal. The 7th Grade A Team came out swinging last night, hungry for victory after a month-long hiatus from competition. With determination and intensity, the girls showed just how hard they’ve been working in practice, delivering an absolute clinic in both offense and defense. The strategic adjustments made to our press defense were immediately effective, as Heritage struggled to cross half-court for most of the game. Our relentless pressure led to steal after steal, fueling an unstoppable offensive run that put the game out of reach early. Leading the charge was Hadley Naughton, who was an absolute force on both ends of the floor. Her 13 steals were a game-changing display of tenacity and awareness, and she also chipped in 12 points for a well-earned double-double. Hadley set the tone, keeping the energy high and the momentum squarely in our favor throughout the game. Offensively, we had a well-rounded effort from the entire squad with everyone putting up numbers on the board. Angie Meyers was a key contributor, racking up 9 steals of her own, which further fueled our fast breaks and continued to shut down Heritage's offense. Meanwhile, Mari Grottis once again dominated the paint with her relentless rebounding and 10 points, proving to be an absolute game-changer inside. Her physicality and presence in the post were unmatched, and she continues to be a cornerstone of our success. Gianna McGill also had a solid outing, adding 4 points to the tally and showing up big in moments that mattered. Every player on the roster contributed to the team’s dominant 23-10 halftime lead, and it was clear that our team was firing on all cylinders.
