Lady Broncos Show Success in Cross Town Rivalry!

In an electrifying game that came down to the final seconds, the Lady Broncos pulled off a thrilling 27-25 victory over their cross-town rivals, North, after trailing by 11 points in the third quarter. The team rallied together in a fierce comeback, outscoring North in the final period to secure the win. Lauren McSpadden was named Player of the Game for her outstanding performance, grabbing 13 rebounds, scoring 6 points, and adding 2 steals to help keep her team in the fight. The Lady Broncos’ defense and grit in the closing minutes were key, with crucial steals and rebounds by several players.
Notable contributions came from Caroline Crawford, who added 4 points, 4 steals, and 5 rebounds, while Georgia Wheeless chipped in with 7 points, 3 steals, and 5 rebounds. Maria Agu also played a pivotal role, finishing with 6 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 steals. The game was a testament to the Lady Broncos’ resilience and teamwork, as they never gave up and fought until the very end to secure the two-point win. The dramatic victory over their rivals was a huge morale booster and showcased the heart and determination of the Lady Broncos.

The B Team was thrilled to take their home court for the first game of the season, facing off against their cross-town rivals, North. From the opening whistle, the girls came out strong, showcasing their teamwork and energy. They dominated the first half, heading into halftime with a solid 14-8 lead. Keira Patel made an impressive debut, contributing 8 points and grabbing 6 rebounds, proving to be a force on both ends of the court. KB Farinde also had a standout performance, scoring 6 points and racking up an incredible 7 steals, disrupting North's offense time and time again. In the second half, North began to mount a comeback, but the B Team stayed focused, maintaining their composure and holding onto their lead. Their determination paid off, and they secured a hard-fought 20-16 victory over the Cougars. Player of the Game honors go to Quinn Penniman, who played tenaciously under the basket on both offense and defense. She finished with 4 points and an impressive 8 rebounds, setting the tone for a strong season ahead. Great teamwork and a fantastic start to the season—way to go, B Team!

The C Team stepped onto the court with determination after cheering the B-Team and A-Team to impressive victories earlier in the evening. Facing a tough matchup against North, the girls started off slowly, falling behind 2-8 in the first half. Despite the early deficit, Abby Thompson made her presence felt with aggressive play on both ends of the court, contributing 4 points, 5 steals, and 3 rebounds. Her energy set the tone for the team as they battled to close the gap. Amelia Poulides showcased her dominance under the basket, grabbing a remarkable 12 rebounds and providing the team with multiple second-chance opportunities. However, offensive struggles persisted, and the team couldn’t quite find their rhythm in the second half. Despite their best efforts and solid defensive plays, the girls fell to North with a final score of 3-14. Lydia Praytor earned the Player of the Game recognition for her outstanding leadership and tireless hustle throughout the game. Her ability to motivate her teammates and lead by example was a bright spot in an otherwise tough outing. Though the game didn’t end in their favor, the C Team showed resilience and determination that will undoubtedly fuel their improvement in future matchups.

7th Grade:

A-Team Girls Dominate Season Opener with Impressive 40-32 Win Over North
The A-Team girls came out firing in their season opener, wasting no time in taking control of the game and stunning North right from the start. The defense set the tone early, with guards Hadley, Angie, and Claire W leading the charge, pressuring North at every turn and forcing multiple turnovers. Thanks to their relentless defense, the team quickly built a commanding 21-6 lead by halftime. Angie Meyers was a standout, recording 8+ steals and fueling the fast break with her tenacity. On the offensive end, Mari Grottis was a force to be reckoned with, dominating the paint with 14 points and 10+ rebounds to secure a well-deserved double-double. Hadley also contributed heavily, attacking the defense with confidence and finishing with 15 points, while also creating scoring opportunities for her teammates. Though North made a push in the second half, the girls refused to back down. Despite battling fatigue, they held firm and fought through the pressure, ultimately securing the 40-32 victory. The win was a statement performance on their home court, showcasing both individual talent and team cohesion.
Our Player of the Game is Mari Grottis, whose dominant presence in the paint and all-around performance were key to the victory. Congratulations to the team on a fantastic season opener and a well-earned win! Way to go, ladies!

The Lady Broncos' 7th grade B team displayed resilience and determination in their game against North last night. Despite a tough matchup and challenging gameplay, the team gave their best effort, showcasing strong teamwork and commitment. Although the Lady Broncos ultimately fell to North with a final score of 37-4, there was a highlight with Vivian making her debut and scoring a basket. The team’s grit and fighting spirit will surely propel them forward in future games. Keep pushing, Lady Broncos!

Player of the Game goes to Mariana Landaeta for her outstanding defensive performance. Mariana was relentless on defense, consistently challenging her opponents and making crucial stops that kept the team competitive throughout the game. Her hustle, energy, and determination on the court set a strong example for her teammates. Great job, Mariana your hard work and dedication didn't go unnoticed!

The Lady Broncos' 7th grade C team took the court last night, using their season opener against North as an opportunity to shake off some early-game jitters. Despite a hard-fought game that ended in a 20-7 loss, the team showed determination and teamwork. Avery A., Tanvi, and Kenndi each contributed with baskets, highlighting their efforts and enthusiasm on offense. The Lady Broncos are already building on this experience and gaining confidence as they look forward to a strong season ahead. Great job, Lady Broncos—keep up the hard work!

Player of the Game goes to Avery Arthur for her exceptional discipline and focus throughout the match. Avery consistently demonstrated strong decision-making, staying composed under pressure, and maintaining a high level of intensity. Her ability to stay disciplined, both offensively and defensively, was key in keeping the team competitive. Avery’s dedication to her role and her teamwork skills stood out, and she was a true leader on the court. Great job, Avery—your hard work and determination made a significant impact!
