On Monday evening the East Broncos A team faced off against the North Cougars in a 7th-grade football game that will be remembered for its dramatic finish. For most of the game, it was a defensive struggle with neither team giving an inch. The North Cougars held the lead for most of the second half thanks to a solid 6-0 advantage. But in the final minute, the Broncos had one last chance to change the game. On 4th down with less than a minute on the clock, the East Broncos' quarterback, Miles Wilmore, launched a perfect pass downfield. It was caught by Kevin Wanemba, who sprinted 70 yards to score a touchdown, tying the game at 6-6. The game moved into overtime, and both teams continued to fight fiercely. Each team managed to score a touchdown in the extra period, showcasing their determination and skill. Despite their best efforts, the game concluded in a 12-12 tie.
The B team game began with an electrifying play from East Broncos’ quarterback, Zain Haq. Haq scrambled through the Cougars' defense, weaving his way to a long touchdown that set the tone for the rest of the game. Running back Jacob Duran was a force to be reckoned with, bulldozing his way through defenders to add two rushing touchdowns to the Broncos' tally. Mohammad Al Khayyat contributed to the Broncos' offensive onslaught with a rushing touchdown of his own. Special teams also played a crucial role in the Broncos' victory. Kicker Shea Hanna successfully converted two extra points. Throughout the game, the Broncos' defense was impenetrable, effectively shutting down any attempts by the Cougars to mount a comeback. Broncos win with a final score of 30-0.
