8th Grade


The 8th grade A team had a rough start to the night, struggling with nerves while playing against their friends from North. However, they quickly found their rhythm and came out strong in set 2, showcasing their talent. The girls dominated from the service line with powerful, aggressive serves. Anisha led with 7 aces, making a significant impact, while Luci added 5 aces of her own. Anisha also excelled in serve receive, delivering precise passes that allowed our setters to execute their game plan effectively. We saw impressive swings from our hitters and solid defense in the back row, picking up on some hard hits. Despite their hard-fought effort, the team fell short, losing the set 20-25 to North. It was a tough loss, but the girls showed great heart and determination on the court.Player of the game goes to Anish Konda. Next week, they'll face off against their parents in the 2024 Parent Showdown, where the parents are currently the undefeated champions!


The 8th grade B-Team kicked off their season with an exciting match against their cross-town rivals, North. The energy was high as they took the court for their first official game of the season. In the opening set, the girls found themselves in an early 0-4 deficit but began to rally halfway through, showing determination and resilience. Despite a few communication breakdowns, they fought fiercely for every point. Ultimately, they fell short in the first set, losing 18-25. Ellie Aguirre and Emma Godiwalla played pivotal roles, stepping up with outstanding hustle and consistent serves, keeping the team competitive. In the second set, the girls battled hard but couldn’t overcome the Cougars, resulting in a tough loss. Abigail Chambers stood out as the Player of the Game, thanks to her powerful serves and relentless hustle on defense, showing tremendous effort and leadership throughout the match. Though the outcome wasn’t in their favor, the team’s grit and determination set a strong foundation for the rest of the season.


The 8th grade C-Team was the final squad to take the court, and they wasted no time making an impact. Right from the start, the girls displayed incredible energy and teamwork, jumping out to an early lead against North in the first set. Their communication and execution were on point, allowing them to maintain control and ultimately close out the set with a 25-18 victory. However, the second set proved to be more challenging. North adjusted their strategy and fought back, capitalizing on a few mistakes and finding holes in the Broncos' defense. Despite their best efforts, the Broncos fell 22-25, pushing the match to a decisive third set. In the final set, the Broncos regrouped and came out with renewed focus. Strong serving played a key role, with Charlotte Nelson stepping up and dominating behind the service line, delivering several crucial points. On defense, Hadley Parker's relentless hustle kept the team in the game, chasing down tough balls and keeping rallies alive. The girls’ determination paid off, as they surged ahead, defeating North 15-7 to secure the win. Quinn Penniman earned Player of the Game honors for her aggressive presence at the net, contributing two key kills and setting the tone for her team’s victory.


7th Grade

A team was hyped for their first game against cross town district rival: the North Cougars. They got off to a slow start in the first set, struggling on serve-receive. However, in the second set, they started to rally by capitalizing on North’s mistakes and with great serving runs by Raelyn Tweed and Aiyana Flores. Despite this rally, they fell to the North Cougars in the 2nd set. Player of the game goes to Abby Hicks who was a positive leader on the court with her hustle and aggressiveness!


B team had a great start especially behind the serving line. The girls fought hard the first set and stood out against a tough north defense. The girls came together and had some powerful plays on the net. Penelope Garza was a great leader on the court and took control of the ball. Disha Kakarla was a beast behind the serving line and got us back up after being a few points behind North. The B team pulled off a great win against North in 2 sets! The player of the game goes to Angie Meyer for playing great defense and truly dominating the court! Great job girls.

C team played a great game against North winning in 2 sets! The girls fought hard for every point and their enthusiasm was contagious. Gweneth Smith was a power house all night running the court and hustling for every ball. Brooklyn Naef was a defensive beast against the cougars and also killed it with her serves. Congrats girls on a great win! Players of the game are Claire Wagner for being a leader on the court and Gigi Mcgill for being such a reliable player and getting us back on the board with her strong serves!
