East vs. Cross Timbers - Oct 12

8th Grade

C
The C-Team was determined to win their last home game as 8th graders. They came out strong and dominated the game the entire time. The girls pull off two amazing wins, 25-6 and 25-9. The whole team stepped up and played strong defense which resulted in zero dropped balls. Clara Lane and Naina Srithaj lead the team with multiple kills. Kaley Tweed also had a great game with killer serves. Player of the game goes to Allysa Nam for her stellar defensive play that continued to set her team up for multiple kills.


The B-Team was determined to keep their winning streak alive against a very talented Cross Timbers team. The girls started off slow, but started fighting their way back. The girls lost the first set 20-25 and were fired up to win the next set. That loss lit a fire under them and they won the second set 25-8 to take us into a third set. Claire Mancuso led the team on serve receive digging some pretty tough serves. Mi’ciaya Harris also had a great game defensively saving multiple balls. Unfortunately, the girls fell to Cross Timbers 12-15 in the third set. Player of the Game goes to Haley Jost for her amazing skills at the net.



A
The A team came ready to play an extremely talented Cross Timbers team for their last home game as 8th graders! Despite losing both sets 13-25, they fought and played together in their best game of the season. Lulu Abou-Jamous, Nitya Vasireddy, Audrina Avila, and Bailey Johnson played great defense on the back row against a powerful Cross Timbers offense. Katherine Zhang and Abbie Pison played great defense on the front row, putting up some great blocks. Bailey Johnson and Ann Jimmy each had a kill. Chennoa Bell led in assists. And finally, Abbie Pison and Katherine Zhang led in good swings. Player of the game goes to Abbie Pison for her heads up all around play both offensively and defensively.

7 Grade

C team had the best game of the season. They fought hard for every point and their footwork was unmatched. Ellie Aguirre carried the team on defense and played the ball so well. After winning the first set, the Lady Broncos went into the second set down 7-21. Lainey Wells stepped behind the serving line and served more than 10 balls to bring the girls back into the game with a score of 18-21. The girls were neck in the neck the rest of the game. They played great defense against Cross Timbers strong hitters and ended up winning 30-29! What a great game to end on! Players of the week go to Lainey Wells for being a constant leader and playing her heart out for every point- EVEN after rolling her ankle. It also goes to Charlotte Nelson for her powerful serves under pressure and her coachability.

B team had a strong start against Cross Timbers hanging with them neck in neck the entire first set. Abby Thompson and Zoe Ruempolhamer was a leader on the court as the setter and played great balls. Taryn Furler had a great kill on the net and played great defense. The girls fought hard both sets but ended up falling short. Player of the week goes to Joshitha Balla for her consistent serves under pressure and her positive attitude on and off the court.


A team started the night off really strong with a 7-1 lead over Cross Timbers. We knew this game was going to be tough with Cross Timbers only having one loss for the season and the girls really showed up ready. Caroline rallied her team with such leadership on the court not only with skills, but energy and attitude. Lucy with 6 aces from the back line and our kill leader for the game with 3. Caroline with 5 aces and 8 assists, and our leader for passing this game with 13 good passes/digs. Player of the game goes to Caroline for her constant leadership, effort on the court, and consistency each week.
