The 8th grade Broncos raced into basketball season with a matchup at Pike middle school. The C team started the season off in the first game. They played solid defense all night getting 16 steals as a team and got out to a double digit lead early thanks to 3-point baskets from AJ and Ryan Hill. Chab Kahungu played extremely well all night with great defense and 5 assists. The player of the game for the Broncos was Chukwudi Agu who had 10 points and 6 steals leading East to a 39-16 victory.
The Broncos B team came out with impressive defensive showing all night long. After a slow start offensively in the first quarter, East started to get things going, getting a double-digit lead on the opponent. Eric Anguiano was a beast on the boards bringing down 16 rebounds. The player of the game was Rohan Patel who led the team with 17 points and 4 blocks helping the Broncos take home a 32-19 victory.
A team finished out the night with a barn burner that showed a back-and-forth contest until East held on the win the game 56-52. Pike was a super athletic and big team and the Broncos fell behind early but never blinked. Once the Broncos made some adjustments on defense and played as a team they got hot from outside and shot the ball like flame throwers. The Broncos made 11 3-pointers led by Parker Alles who had 6. Players of the game are Ryland Page who had 16 points including going 4-5 from 3-point range and Parker Alles who had 20 points overall. Great job Broncos.
