Thursday night, the 7th grade volleyball teams travelled to Pike MS for their first MS volleyball game.
C team started their night with tons of energy and won the first set 25-19 thanks to a strong finish by Claire McSpadden's serving. Pike flipped the tables in the second game, as the Lady Broncos fell 19-25. Finally, in the third game, the girls could not overcome the strong serves from their opponents and lost 6-15.
Next, B team came to avenge the loss by C team right from the start of play. In the first game, the girls dominated with strong serves from Abigail Pison and ended with a winning score of 25-13. In the second set, Pike put up a fight, but could not compete against the perfect passes coming from Audrina Avila and Kylie Guerrero. Layla Tapia helped to finish the Panthers off with her hustle and consistent serves. The Lady Broncos won the second set 25-23.
A team started the night out with some nerves, as they struggled on receiving the serve and feeling comfortable in their rotation. As the night continued, they showed more grit, but could not compete with the strength of the experienced Lady Panthers. Chenoa Bell showed amazing hustle by getting to every ball possible, and clutching up on some important serves.
Next week, the 7th grade teams will travel to Wilson Middle School to showcase their skills against the Lady Wildcats.
