Waller Part II: the Keller Edition

The East 8th grade boys basketball team wallered on Keller Monday night at home. A and B team looked to remain undefeated while C team aimed to finish the first half of the season on a winning streak.

C team kicked off the action by jumping on Keller. After briefly trailing by six to start the game, East rallied back thanks to a big 3 from Matt Jessee. Mikey Fischetti played his best game of the season and handled the ball with poise, scoring 5 points and shooting 75% from the free throw line. Liam Spiller was an animal in the second half, scoring 11 points and playing 90 feet of defense. The Broncos threw wave after wave at the opposition and pressed the entire night, winning 31-17. B team took on a tough Keller team that entered the night 4-1. The beginning of the game was a furry of points, which saw John Jack Taylor hit two threes. Taylor would go on to lead the team in scoring with 13 points total. Zander Montgomery was a force both offensively and defensively, scoring 8 points total. Erik Maucher and Judah Mullican both contributed at the post, and Charlie Meyer played lock down defense. The Broncos survived a late-game scare when Matty “Ice” Russell hit two free throws to seal the game; Russell was 100% from the free throw line on the night as the Broncos won, 39-32. A team made a statement in a game that would determine the top of the standings. East played its most complete game thanks to a dominant performance from Jaelon Germany. Germany led the team in scoring 23 points, including going 88% from the free throw line. Justus Childers stood tall against the competition, eating up rebounds, playing lockdown defense and scoring 11 points. Jaden Todd also played well, hitting two 3-pointers and shooting 80% from the free throw in route to 15 points on the night. Richard Wu, Levi Owira, Brady Lopez and Sibu Socks all contributed on defense as the Broncos won 68-40. Player of the game is Jaelon Germany

The Broncos head into Christmas Break with a combined 13-2 record across all teams. They’ll return to action on January 8th in the Lewisville ISD Invitational Tournament.
