East 8th Basketball Sweeps Pike

The 8th grade East Broncos started the season with a three-game sweep of the Pike Panthers.

C team smothered the competition from the start, outscoring the Panthers 28-2 in the first half. The team was led in scoring by Brandon Veail, who had 11 points. Mikey Fischetti, Riley Neal and Sujay Roa all contributed with stylish scoring and lockdown defense. The Broncos cruised to victory easily 43-5. Player of the game is Brandon Veail for running the court well and finishing at the rim.

B team started the game in similar fashion by going on a 12-0 run in the 1st quarter. The Broncos ran the competition out of the gym thanks to relentless pressing and hot shooting from deep. Matthew Russell hit five 3-pointers and scored 16 points in total, while John Jack Taylor had four 3s and numerous steals. The twin towers of Erik Maucher and Judah Mullican polished the glass as the Broncos stampeded Pike 58-20. Player of the game is John “Jack” Taylor for gritty defense and smooth scoring

A team completed the program sweep thanks to a dominating game from Sibu Socks. Socks scored 27 points and locked down the Panthers on defense. Richard Wu had a strong start to the season with 14 points, and newcomer Levi Owira also scored another 14 points. Jaden Todd was all over the court, eating up rebounds and scraping for loose balls as the Broncos won 70-32. Player of the game is Sibu Socks for leading his team to victory.

Next week the Broncos go on the road to take on Adams MS in tough early-season contest. Go Broncos!
