Last Wednesday, all three Coppell Middle Schools met up for the second tri-city track meet of the season. It was a successful night with both, the 7th and 8th grade Lady Broncos taking first place overall and beating out West and North.

The 7th grade team scored 250 points, a 67 point improvement from the first track meet against North and West. Highlights include: Lexi Patton, Enya Mata and Maren Hill swept the 400 meter run with a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finish, another top three finish in the mile run by Lexi Patton, Arya Shah and Lily Ellison, and again taking top three honors in the 2400 meter run by Lexi Patton, Lily Ellison and Ryan Elmer. Ryan Park took home the blue ribbon in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 21.39 seconds while Sophia Williams, who ran a very competitive 200 meter race remains undefeated this season. The 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams improved their time and placed first in both races. In the field events, Claire Monroe threw 31'3.5" and claimed first place in the shot put and Natalie Yowell won her second meet in a row in high jump with a clearance height of 4'8".

With a final score of 281 points, the 8th grade girls had a 104 point lead from their next closest opponent. Highlights include: Grace Chen, Ava Beaty and Annie Reeder took 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the mile run, Mallory Sherrer and Claire Pafford claimed 1st and 2nd place in the 2400 meter run, Landry Sherrer earned 10 points for her team with a first place finish in the 800 meter run. Landry Sherrer also won first place in the 300 meter hurdles, along with Ellie Dalton and Lauren Sanchez who took the 2nd and 3rd place honors. Ellie Dalton outplaced all of her opponents with an impressive 18.92 second run in the 100 meter hurdles. In the 4x100 and 4x200 relays, Paige Slater, Summer Chen, Grace Chen and Lauren Sanchez won first place. In the 4x400, Landry Sherrer, Claire Pafford, Summer Chen and Mallory Sherrer beat out their opponents and scored 20 points for their team. In field events, Cambry Smith was the meet champion in the shot put with a throw of 34'1'. Paige Slater took first place in triple jump with a distance of 31'7.5" and Kennedy Paul, Emme Ratliff and Landry Sherrer scored 24 points for their team by winning 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the girls high jump.

Congratulations, Lady Broncos for competing and earning top honors in your meet. 7th grade will compete in their Zone meet on Monday, April 12th and the 8th grade Zone meet will take place on Wednesday, April 14th.
