The 8th grade Lady Broncos travelled to Southlake on Saturday to battle the long-time rivals from Carroll Middle School.

A-team started the morning off and was quickly introduced to Carroll's newest player who recently transferred in on Wednesday. I don't recall the Lady Broncos having ever faced an opponent of this caliber. She was good. The Broncos definitely had their mettle tested on Saturday. Not only did the Dragons have an outstanding player, the Carroll gym proved to be a rather cold place because the Lady Bronco shots were not falling. The East ballers who usually take control of the offense were struggling to connect. The Lady Broncos battled the first quarter and managed to establish an 11-point lead at the end of the first half. The Dragons closed that deficit as East struggled to score in the latter part of the 3rd quarter and into the 4th quarter. Despite their struggles offensively, the Lady Broncos showed the grit they had deep inside. Grace Chen and Reagan Roberson once again put the clamps on Carroll's star player, and Paige Slater and Cambry Smith took charge of the paint work. Leading the team in scoring was Landry Sherrer with 11 points. The player of the game honor goes to Paige Slater who finished the game with 6 points, 10 rebounds and a blocked shot. The Lady Broncos play the Titans of Trinity Springs on Thursday. C-team game starts at 5:00pm - and the game will be held in the big gym at East. B-team will play at 6:00 and A-team at 7:00.

B-team followed the A-team with another dominant basketball clinic. The Lady Broncos were relentless and were even coached to let up a bit so the game would stay somewhat civilized. After being instructed to abandon the full court pressure, the Dragons still had no answer for the run and gun mentality the Lady Broncos had. Several East players played fantastic games, and there was never any doubt who the better team was. The Lady Broncos dominated the entire game and won 43-11. Player of the Game honor goes to Sydney Beach.

C-team book-ended the blowout with another nail biter. The C-Squad was missing two post players and still managed to squeak out a win. Several ladies made some key plays in securing the East victory. Hazel Clements and Alanna Adams San-Miguel played some great defense. The rest of the crew hustled their tails off to fight back. Player of the game goes to a young lady who rebounded well, scored some buckets and made some great defensive plays. Congratulations Ellie Dalton on your outstanding play.

The 7th grade Lady Broncos faced a brutally talented squad of A teamers. They lost a tough battle after fighting to the end, they were just not able to compete against this highly skilled group of Dragons.

B Team came back looking for revenge! They started out strong, but faced some adversity as two players were injured in the first half. They were able to pull out a well deserved victory after a tight 4th quarter, winning by only one point!

C team wasn't quite able to pull out another victory over the Dragons after the exciting B team game, but they played hard to the end.

Congratulations to our Lady Broncos on going 4-2 against the Lady Dragons!
