The 7th and 8th grade Lady Broncos basketball teams took on the Lady Panthers of Vista Ridge Middle School last night! It was a clean sweep of wins for all the Lady Broncos teams!

7th grade Lady Broncos:

Last night, your A & B Lady Broncos 7th grade basketball teams traveled to Vista Ridge to take on the Panthers. What a successful night it was for East!

The theme of the evening for both teams was fast breaks, hustle, steals and mastering the full court press.

The B team won 31 to 10 and the player of the game goes to Kylie Walker for her hustle in transition, out rebounding her opponent and being the high scorer with 8 points.

The A team won 37 to 8 and the player of the game is awarded to Maren Hill for leading the team with 12 points, being a focal point in our offense and playing aggressive defense.

Tomorrow morning, the Lady Broncos will take on the Carroll Dragons on our home court. Good luck to all 3 teams tomorrow and congrats on your wins last night!

8th grade Lady Broncos:

A Division 2 team from Vista Ridge rolled into town last night for an inter-divisional matchup. Having never played Vista Ridge before, the Lady Broncos didn't quite know what to expect.

B-team was poised and ready to face any team that stepped into the Kyle Shaw Honorary Gymnatorium. From the first tip leading to Lauren Sanchez's first bucket, the Lady Broncos never took their foot off the gas, and never looked in their rear-view mirror. The Panthers were no match for the firepower the Lady Broncos sent them. Several Lady Broncos showed out last night. Amanda Adams San-Miguel once again showed her command on the court. Sydney Beach regularly imposed her will on her opponent. Rachel Arrington played like a person twice her size as she ripped down several rebounds and initiated numerous jump balls. All the ladies contributed in one way or another in regards to hustle, heart, desire, grit, etc... Player of the Game honors go to Maddie Jaquish for her truly outstanding sharp shooting, her intense hustle, and her "that's my ball" attitude. Great job ladies. Final score was 43-9

A-team was hoping to display early dominance on the Panthers, but unfortunately the jitters and the rust were too heavy. The Lady Broncos struggled to maintain a lead and often felt the Panthers hot on their heels. Most of the first half showed a mere 2-3 point Lady Bronco advantage. At halftime, East was only up on the Panthers 28-22. However, after three minutes of soul searching over halftime, the Lady Broncos quickly found their groove. To quote one of the referees from last night, the girls "really opened the flood gates". Cambry Smith turned it on and dominated the paint contributing 7 rebounds and 7 points. Paige Slater turned it on as well chipping in 8 rebounds and 11 points. Defensive standouts Grace Chen and Reagan Roberson portrayed their best Gandalf impersonation as they told the Panthers best player "You shall not pass" during the second half. The real razzle-dazzle came from the main event "The Sherrer Show". The sisters combined for an astounding 53 points. Landry Sherrer finished with 30 points, breaking the school record of 26 points held by the fabulous Ella Spiller. Landry had a fantastic game finishing with 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Mallory Sherrer absolutely went off in the 3rd quarter. Within a 7-minute time period the East catalyst booked 17 points and finished the night with 23 points. Mallory also contributed 1 rebound, 2 assists and 2 steals. Way to go Ladies. Nice job channeling your inner Bryan/Shaw and dominating the second half. Final score was 77-33 - and players of the game go to Landry and Mallory.
