The 7th and 8th grade Lady Broncos took on the Wildcats of Wilson MS on Saturday and walked away with 3 wins!

The 8th grade A-team played first and showed out. The ladies jumped out to a quick lead and never gave it up. For only having four days of practice, the ladies really came together to make a statement. Landry Sherrer led all scoring with 25 points. Landry also had 6 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 assists. Mallory Sherrer added 10 points (with two 3-pointers), while chipping in 7 rebounds, 2 steals and 4 assists. Paige Slater was the third scorer in the game with 4 points. Cambry Smith contributed 7 rebounds. The ladies played well for their first game. Way to go. Player of the Game honor goes to Landry Sherrer for straight up “ballin’ out”.

B-team fought a good fight and came up short in their quest for glory. Two players in particular stood out, therefore earning Player of the Game status. Amanda Adams San-Miguel took charge and ran the offense with authority. Her constant hustle and fierce attitude was amazing to see. Tatum Montgomery also played very well with double digit steals and some awesome fast breaks. Great job ladies. Even though B-team ran out of time, they played hard.

C-team finished up the morning with a nail-biter. Early on the game looked like it was going to slip away from the Lady Broncos. However, the girls laced up their dunking shoes in the second half and they fought hard for their victory. C-team final score was 19-17. Several ladies experienced their first competitive basketball game, and several ladies had a ton of fun. One Lady Bronco that seemed to have the most fun was Siena Telling. She dominated on the court and played both guard and post. Siena gathered several rebounds and scored some points too. Congratulations Siena, you are the player of the game.

The 7th grade Lady Broncos were fired up for their first middle school basketball game! After only 2 days of practice, they battled and ran the floor with intensity.

The A team got off to a rough start trying to navigate a full court press, but they started to get into a groove as the game progressed. Finally, the Lady Broncos came within 2 points in the final seconds of the game. Callie Hall was fouled with .4 seconds on the clock. The pressure didn't phase her at all as she sunk two perfect shots, tying up the game. Unfortunately, the girls couldn't hold on during overtime and lost 20-24. Player of the game was Callie Hall who battled inside and ended up leading in rebounds and points, scoring 10.

The B team took the court, ready for revenge. The girls played hard from the get go. Andy Coffey played great defense under the basket, and Charley Dobson led on offense with great rebounding and hustle. The B team won in a low scoring game 10-5.

Finally, it was time for the C teamers to show their stuff. It was a back and forth full court run and gun game for the entire four quarters. Lexi Patton was all over the place, leading in defense, hustle and steals. Unfortunately, the Lady Broncos came up short in scoring, losing 18-26.

Great job to all the Lady Broncos on their first 2020 basketball game!
